The Mollymauk

Far out in the Southern Ocean, few birds are more at home than the mollymawk—a name given to several species of albatross that spend much of their lives soaring above the open sea. To generations of mariners, albatrosses became creatures of mystery and superstition, associated with good fortune, lost sailors, and the vast empty waters beyond the familiar world.

Our Mollymauk design leans into that darker side of maritime folklore: a ghostly sailor rising from the waves beneath the watchful seabird, with the wheel and rolling sea recalling ships and crews that never made it home. Stark black-and-white artwork gives it the feel of an old sailor’s tale brought to life—a tribute to the birds, beliefs, and ghosts that have long followed mariners to sea.
